Step up your summer wardrobe with a contrast tie off shoulder top & getting personal about pursuing our dreams

Off shoulder tops and dresses are probably the epitome of summer. Popular among women, they are very chic and comfortable. So, what is there not to love about the staple piece of this summer? I have about three or four off-shoulder tops which I keep wearing on rotation every summer. But I almost forgot about this one because it was well hidden in the bottom of my closet. I don’t know how such a cute piece ended up there, but I’m so happy that I found it, because a contrast tie off shoulder top like this one can step up any summer outfit for sure.

Easy to pull off, you can wear a top like this with pretty much everything. It looks good with anything from shorts to jeans and skirts, and I’m actually planning to mix it with some shorts I’ve recently ordered from Mango. I’m not a shorts person, but those were way too cute – I really had to have them. Anyway, this time I opted for tucking it in a slit front midi skirt and kept things minimal. The mini straw bag couldn’t miss from the equation :). And in case you were wondering, yes, I got the same sandals in black. They were too gorgeous, so I had to get them in black as well. I loooove how they worked with this outfit and I’m looking forward to styling them with some dresses and jeans as well.

Off topic, I searched for a shooting location at 40oC for about an hour, walked a lot, got a bunch of blisters and was really tired, so that’s why I probably don’t seem the happiest in these photos. It takes so much effort to create a blog post, shoot, plan an outfit, find a location, look for similar items, do the SEO, edit, write and so on. Reading it and looking at the photos can take only a few minutes, but all the work behind a single post can take about 6-8 hours. I’m not complaining or anything like that. I love what I am doing- I just wanted to point out that there is a lot of effort behind a post. So, if sometimes I don’t look very happy in the photos, it’s because I’m exhausted too. That day I shot 6 outfits at 40oC, changed in the car, walked a lot and didn’t eat or drink for hours.

However, hard work always pays off. Always keep that in mind and never lose your motivation. Don’t look back, don’t listen to people who are trying to bring you down, just do your best and put a lot of passion in what you’re doing :). So far in my blogging journey, I’ve met a lot of people, many of them were very sweet and supportive, and I thank them for that. But again many of them were just evil with hidden intentions. When I started, I was told that I was not pretty enough, not brave enough, that I wouldn’t be able to do it and so on, but I didn’t listen to any of those things. I went all in to pursue my dream.

Now one year later, I haven’t accomplished all that I wanted yet, but I have done things I never thought I could do. I worked hard every day, researched, edited for hours, got scoliosis from spending so many hours at my laptop, but all that hard work paid off. In less than two months from now I’ll be traveling to Paris for Fashion Week and that is one of the things I’ve dreamt of doing for years. I took risks, invested a lot of time, effort and money in my dream and I don’t regret anything.

I met a lot of sweet people through the Instagram community, made friends, we saw each other in real life, bonded and it felt so good. Even though on some days I feel like I can’t afford to leave my flat because I’m covered in work, I don’t mind it because I do everything with passion. So.. after my long off-topic rant, I’d like to encourage you too, to never give up on your dreams. Fight for them, be a warrior, work hard till you no longer need to introduce yourself. All that hard work will pay off one day and nothing will be more fulfilling than that. Great things don’t happen to lazy people. xx

How I styled the same top last year.
P.S. Don’t be a stranger, let’s connect on Instagram as well.

  2. Don’t listen to negative people is a simple tip but if you really do that, you’re half way! Well done for what you’ve accomplished so far, you deserve it. 🙂

  3. Girl, those words are exactly what I needed right now. It can be so hard not to give up, when you barely see any result.
A lot of people today are so jealous and selfish, that they don’t understand that kindness and support is the only thing that we should share online and offline.
I’m so happy to see that your hard work pays off, and I will try not to give up.
    You’re serious inspiration girl.

PS : sorry if that looks like a declaration ahaha xD
PPS : As I said on Instagram, that look is awesome !

I think you look amazing and this outfit is styled to perfection. I agree, there is so much work behind blogging that no one really considers. It’s not all about taking selfies and getting freebies.

    1. Amen to that, girl! x

  17. I can’t believe that shirt was tucked away, but isn’t that one of the best moments – when you find something you absolutely love and would wear over and over throughout the season? I know what you mean about the community, but I feel really grateful for those I have really clicked with, and glad that I messaged you that time I saw your comment on an IG post during your research. Paris is going to be a lot of fun!

  18. Loving that shirt Andreea 🙂 I thought I would hate this off the shoulder top trend but I actually really love it, it’s sexy and chic and functional. Your sandals are also super adorable. Looking good hon

  19. What a statement top that is! That is my favorite piece on this look, along with your sandals!

  21. Perfect outfit as always!

At one moment I thought that running a blog doesn’t make sense. I didn’t have the time and energy. Now I’m coming back slowly and after reading your post I have even more motivation for systematic work.

  22. Kiri says:

Who takes your photos for you?
You don’t look like you were uncomfortable in the photos – some there is a little hint of it – but you have pulled it off well.
Yes – I totally agree it take a lot of effort to run a blog.
I have only just started again – I used to run a fashion blog. Now a beauty blog.
I need to start vlogging and I am super nervous. That is another thing to add to the list…

    1. My dad, a hired photographer or friends. It really depends on the situation, but usually my dad takes them.

Oh, feet were killing me, couldn’t walk any longer, lol. Glad it didn’t show up that much :). Vlogging can be quite difficult and video editing is so much worse, but I am sure you will do great :). Wishing you a great week ahead! x

OMG! I love this look. That blouse looks amazing and I love how you styled it with those chic bag.

  24. This outfit is truly awesome, so effortless chic.I can’t even believe that i didn’t buy that skirt when i saw it at Stradivarius.

Talking about the blogging topic, i’ve just related so much to your words. Actually, i shoot all my pics at weekends, so i’ve to plan the styling during the week, change in the car no matter if it’s cold or hot out there, do the research, try to find an interesting topic, and the list goes on. Meanwhile i have a freelance job as fashion writer during the week.
I started my blog back in september, and i’m working so hard on it that i totally understand your feelings. As you, i haven’t accomplished all my goals yet but i feel i’m in a good way. After all, hard work will always pay off.
    Have a great day dear.

    1. Might still have a chance to find it in stores. Seen a hidden one on rack a few days ago.

Changing in the car at extreme temperatures and looking decent for photos can be quite tricky, but I’m happy to hear I’m not the only one going through this.

You go, girl!! Soon enough all your efforts will pay off. xx

  25. I am so with you on all of this. I get so down on myself, particularly when lately looking at Instagram and engagement stats. I forget that weeks later when I go to publish my work, that day we shot I was either freezing while changing six times in the car with a grumpy photographer, hungry, and stressed about getting the right shots to honour each look and products in them properly. Let alone all the time to sit down, edit, go through everything, pick images, write the copy, schedule all of the content across multiple platforms, optimise for SEO and plan it all around other jobs coming in, negotiating the rates and new jobs and all that. But, I know that if I were sitting around with nothing to do and no momentum, I would be a lot more unhappy. Your goals should never feel small, nor should you diminish your achievements by comparison to others. The good always outweighs the bad. I loved reading this and knowing I am not alone for all of the efforts, and they do not go unnoticed!

    1. Unfortunately, Instagram is quite disappointing lately, but we gotta do what we gotta do. Kick-ass content is always the key to success and you are taking some beautiful visuals :).

Hehe, yeah! Everything seems easy peasy, but there is a lot of effort going into a post. Freezing in winter while having to change and shoot is horrible :/. You’re doing a great job, Janelle! Glad hearing we are on the same page. x

  26. First of all, you are slaying in this outfit, love the play with different volumes and the contrast in colours. If you didn’t feel your happier, I couldn’t tell cause I always adore your fashion attitude in every post! Second of all, loved loved to read about you, your beginnings and the struggles. It makes it all more real and relatable, it is clear that you put a lot of effort into the content you curate and many people out there are taking notice, my dear, so many more successes are round the corner (Paris Fashion Week!! So jealous) – my point is, I love what you do, I would love to get to know you a bit better and you are a true inspiration for all bloggers out there. Hatersgonnahate, but us followers are gonna follow and support you always!
