Since I’m slowly shifting into my mid twenties, I thought it was about time to change some old habits and be more conscious. First step I took into that direction was stopping impulsive buys. We all went through that phase, remember that item you loved a lot, bought it and never worn it? Well, I got quite a few of those.
I still remember a peplum coat I got years ago…oh man, I loved it so much and as soon as I got home, placed it in the wardrobe and never got it out of there. Poor thing never seen daylight. I have no idea what made me like it that much, but truth is, it was quite ugly and made me look like a giant walking tomato. Fun to imagine, but point is I spent on something I never actually worn and I’m quite sure I’m not the only one who has done that. Now years later, I realize it and wish to never do it again.
Embroidery and patches are all cool and fun to style, but they are just on trend items. Of course, I have some of those in my wardrobe too, but one-two pieces of each trend are more than enough. I got to the point where I’d rather spend wise and invest in pieces that never get out of style, such as a good silk cami, a tailored trench coat etc. Always loved luxe garments, but unfortunately they can be quite pricey, however I’d rather spend a little more on a better looking item.
Did that with with with the Gucci sneakers because I was really frustrated of buying white sneakers that would end up looking extremely used and damaged in just a few months. Had about four pairs of white kicks before buying the Gucci ones and each pair ended up looking used even thought I took such good care of them. I’m one of those crazy persons who take such good care of their things, so trust me, I wash my shoes after every use, keep bags clean and store them in dust bags etc. So yeah, as I was saying, instead of spending the same amount on four similar items, rather pay a little more and get something better.
Did that with this silk cami top too. Loved the color, the fit and the fun lace up detail in the back. The spaghetti straps are adjustable so you can get to choose how you want to wear it. Besides that you can play with the straps in the back too. Tie them, leave them free, they will look good no matter how you wear them. Adjusted them and tucked the cami in the mom jeans I keep wearing on rotation. Stepped in these cute basic black mules and got my newest picnic bag.
If you know me well, then you are probably aware of how much I adore basket bags. Wanted this one for the unique shape and perfect size and also because I loved their brand values. In fact, Sea&Grass funded the Areeya Scholarship. At Areeya, they are using a portion of the sales from Sea&Grass to sponsor the education of Thai children in need. So in case you are looking for a great straw bag for the rest of summer and wish to spend for a great cause too, then that’s where you should be looking. How do you like this minimal outfit? x

I’m also guilty of buying pieces that I really love just for them to end up barely being used! It’s terrible. But I think I’ve become better in the last year to be more careful about my purchases. Love your silky top babe, the color is gorgeous!! Xx

The pineapple was such a good idea! I almost never impulse buy, but I remember being out with a friend a few months ago and bought a denim crop top which I haven’t worn yet. It got cold in the weeks after so I am planning to bring it out when it warms up again, otherwise the damn thing will just haunt me! haha you know the drill!

I so needed to read this post lol. I’ve had such a strong urge to go shopping lately, but I’d really love to stick to shopping more consciously. It really is better for my wallet and the environment. I haven’t had the chance to actually add nice quality luxe items to my wardrobe, but one day hopefully!

I love your earrings and the cami top. They are both amazing and always classic pieces. I should better think before I buy. That would make me so much happier at the end :-*

Loving this cami top and the basket bag. It’s so hard to sometimes turn your head away from an amazing find. I had that problem when I saw the gold Gucci shoes, remember? I love hard to find things lol I’m a sucker for items that are really unique because I covet them, but I’ve learned to ask myself – will I wear this a lot? If I won’t, I don’t mind buying a cheaper or inexpensive version, but if I will I’ll splurge. 🙂 Maybe I do that too often… lol

You look absolutely incredible ♥ Love it!
And you’re right. We spend too much money on things that we don’t need or that are not worth it. I prefer to go to timeless pieces that I can use whenever, but sometimes, I buy trend stuff because no one is perfect hahahah great post!

I think you become more and more aware of shopping for classic quality pieces as you get older – but also as your salary increases you are actually able to spend a bit more. This means you can afford to buy classic pieces that last a long time.
I really hate fast fashion now.
While I love seeing people in new outfits – I can’t really justify buying and buying cheap stuff. I have a wardrobe full of pieces I have had for ages.
Yes I have to keep buying t-shirts and shirts when I need to refresh things or they wear out. If I want new quality pieces I donate to charity or a sell on eBay. Creating more room for new quality pieces.

I agree with you – impulse buying is difficult to control at times. But I think it comes with getting older to focus on the things that truly matter instead of acting base on impulse. By the way, this look is amazing on you. That silk cami top with the pants make an amazing combo!
