So what’s with the clear lens glasses trend? Nothing much, they’re just cool, but I could notice a lot of people whom are wearing prescription glasses feeling offended by this trend. Why so?! I am short-sighted and blinder than a bat, wearing contact lenses outside the house and now while writing this article I’m using my prescription glasses, but if I believe these frames would give that little something extra to my outfit, I’d wear them in a heartbeat. So what is there to feel offended by? I know it’s not cool to wear glasses all the time, but hey, that’s why we got other alternatives, such as contacts or surgery :).
Glasses turned into a fashion accessory, and if my prescription glasses would look this cool, then you can make sure I’d even wear them on the street. But you know, the regular glasses are less cool and the costs of doing prescription ones on this type of lens can be quite high. I remember having to pay about 250$ only for the lens of my Ray Ban Wayfayer inspired pair. Quite expensive, but I’ve been using them for about four or five years and they are still in a great condition. They wouldn’t have any scratch if my dad wouldn’t have dropped them on cement, thanks dad.
So yeah, before judging them, you should give them a try. I remember first seeing the trend emerging on Instagram, and I was like hey, they look really cool, I should get myself a pair and see how I like them. Luckily, while taking my mom to the commercial center, I also managed to run into a pair of clear lens glasses. It was love at first sight, and they weren’t expensive at all. Found them at Zara for about 13$ and I’d love wearing them with pretty much everything. But first things first, I’ve tried them in what I like to call a spring-summer perfect outfit. Breezy, chic with a small dose of retro, I’ve mixed the clear lens glasses with a pair of high waist gingham trousers, an extremely ruffled shirt and a pair of Gucci inspired shoes. Tried my best to find a similar budget friendly alternative, but sadly I couldn’t find one online :(. Really sorry about it, but I’ll keep scouting! So how do you feel about this trend? xx
