Am I actually wearing something neon? I can’t believe it either, but yes, I am wearing a neon midi skirt. As hard as it is to believe, I fell in love with the color of the skirt as soon as I saw it. Contemplated a while if I should add it to my wardrobe or not, but in the end I thought the color looks quite nice, so I ended up buying it and I don’t regret it at all. In case you’re unsure about the trend (just like me), then here are a few styling tips that might convince you to give neon clothing a try.
Your guide to styling neon clothing
- At first glance these colors might seem intimidating, but trust me they are not that hard to style. Make the neon clothing item the central piece of your outfit and start build your look around it. In my case, the central piece was the slime green skirt which I paired with a basic white button down shirt. Looks good so far, no?
- Style neon clothing with wardrobe basics. So far we have agreed the skirt looks chic with a white button down shirt, right? Well, it will look just as good with your favorite turtleneck sweater, a plain white t-shirt or a graphic one. Try them together so you can find out which combo you like the most.
- Color-block. Check which is the opposite color of the one you’re wearing and add it to your outfit. It can be in the form of an accessory or just another piece of clothing. For instance, I added the hot pink JW Anderson bag which complemented the skirt really well. To make the outfit look more pulled together, I also added the long floral earrings which had both colors.
